Getting Your Power Back

I hear a lot these days about having power, getting your power back, and being powerful. In some sense, this is exactly what we should be doing. And in another sense, it is a pretty limited view of reality.

I think of power in terms of personal power—which means focus and being in alignment with a sense of oneness with whatever I feel is true for me. When I have felt powerless, it is because I have lost focus, not because someone else did something to me or made me do something I didn’t want. On one level, no one can make you do anything you don’t want to do. What we do is our personal choice, and if there are consequences for not doing it, then experiencing those consequences are our personal choice.

With that said, in the media it seems that the word power is being used in a very different sense—the sense of power over others. This type of power strikes me as nothing more than someone’s ego acting out because it is afraid they are not good enough. When we seek power over others, it because we are trying to feel better about ourselves, and making someone else do something we want temporarily gives us that feeling.

But the feeling doesn’t last because we are the source of the lack of power, and so we need to do it again and again, forever, until there is no one left to have power over. That person will never have enough power over others, and also will never have the personal power that comes from focus and being in alignment with what a sense of oneness. And so the next time someone tells you to get your power back, ask them what they mean by that. In business and in life, the power that comes from focus, can always be gotten back and is always only one thought away.

How My Brain Immediately Mapped a Fearful Event

This afternoon I was driving my car like I have a thousand times before, but this time something happened that had never happened before:  the car stopped running and still kept moving down the road!  I lost steering and brakes, but was luckily able to maneuver it to the side of the road to safety.

It’s the Age Of Aquarius–at least a mini version starting now!

First, the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9oq_IskRIg Now for the facts. According to my friend James Kelleher, a Jyotish astrologer I’ve used for neary 30 years (with great results), the musical Hair was way ahead of its time, since it doesn’t even begin until 2445, when the Sun, at the time of the vernal equinox, will move into
